Eni announces new natural gas discovery in Egypt’s Western Desert

 

Italian oil and gas group Eni announced on Thursday a new natural gas discovery in a concession area of north of Egypt’s western desert.

The discovery well has been drilled on in the Faramid South exploration prospect located in East Obayed concession, 30 km North-West of the Melehia Concession.

The well reached the target depth of 17,000 ft and encountered several gas bearing layers in the Kathabta sandstones of Jurassic age.

The well has been opened to production delivering 25 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of natural gas, confirming the potential of the East Obayed Concession, the company said.

“Eni has started the studies to develop these relevant gas reserves that, together with the gas potential of the Melehia Concession, can contribute to increase the country gas production from the Western Desert Basin.” Eni statement read.

TechnipFMC secures contract for olefins plant in Vietnam

 

TechnipFMC has secured a contract for the licensing, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up of an olefins plant in Vietnam.

The contract has been awarded by Long Son Petrochemicals for the plant on Long Son Island, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, Vietnam.

Executing the project in a consortium with SK Engineering & Construction, TechnipFMC is will be responsible for all engineering, as well as the procurement of critical equipment for the project.

TechnipFMC will carry out the activities from its operating centers located in Houston, USA, Rome, Italy and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

TechnipFMC’s onshore/offshore business president Nello Uccelletti said: “Our reliable proprietary ethylene technology and proven engineering, procurement and construction capabilities were key factors in this important, highly competitive award and confirms our leadership in this market.

Aramco, Lomonosov MSU Sign Collaborative Agreement

 

Saudi Aramco Upstream Technology Company (SAUTC), subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, has signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Russian Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) for joint research focusing primarily on the upstream oil and gas industry, The Saudi Gazette reported.

The two parties will organize joint laboratories, symposia, workshops and conferences.

Mohammed Y. Al-Qahtani, Saudi Aramco senior vice president of upstream, lauded Lomonosov MSU’s advancement in upstream disciplines.

“In this era of accelerating technology and innovation, strategic collaboration between industry and academia is vital for impactful solutions to society’s most pressing priorities and challenges,” he said.
