Eni Employees in Porto Marghera begin collecting used cooking oils for conversion into biofuels

 

Eni is the first company in the world to have taken a traditional refinery and transformed it into a Bio-Refinery using proprietary technology. As of today, Eni will begin collecting used cooking oils from the homes of its employees, which will then be converted into high-quality biofuels.

The project will be progressively extended to other Company sites in Italy

Venice, 4 June 2018 - Eni is the first company in the world to have taken a traditional refinery and transformed it into a Bio-Refinery using proprietary technology. As of today, Eni will begin collecting used cooking oils from the homes of its employees, which will then be converted into high-quality biofuels. This pioneering initiative is part of Eni’s commitment to adopt a circular economy programme across all of its business areas, with the aim of maximising efficiency and the sustainable use of energy. The project is being launched in the Eni Bio-Refinery in Venice following an agreement between Eni and Veritas, the multi-utility company responsible for the collection and treatment of waste in the Venice area. Over the course of the next few weeks, the project will be extended to the Porto Marghera petrochemical plant where Eni’s subsidiaries Versalis and Syndial also operate...

Repsol to crunch more refinery data with Google's help

The Spanish energy company said its margins could improve because of efficiency gains at its Tarragona refinery, its third largest unit.

June 4 (UPI) -- By utilizing the cloud data service from Google, Spanish energy company Repsol's efficiency improvements could yield $20 million in capital growth.

Repsol said it established a partnership with Google to use its cloud data service and artificial intelligence to help optimize operations at its Tarragona refinery.

"This is an efficiency project in all senses," Maria Victoria Zingoni, Repsol's executive managing director for downstream operations, said in a statement. "It seeks to consume less resources; reduce energy consumption, which is the highest cost of a refinery; increase the unit reliability and, by extension, improve economic performance."...

New Age Signs Gas Convention Agreement with Cameroon Government

 

CMLNG, a wholly owned subsidiary of New Age LNG Limited (New Age LNG) is pleased to announce that it has signed a gas convention agreement (GCA) with the Government of Cameroon, regarding its Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) project in the Republic of Cameroon. The agreement, which enshrines the fiscal terms of the project, was signed at a ceremony held today in Yaounde, in the presence of the Minister of Water Resources and Energy, His Excellency Eloundou Essomba Gaston.

The project company, CMLNG, will utilise a newly-built FLNG production vessel to process gas from the Etinde production sharing licence. As a result of a competitive tendering process undertaken during 2016, a contract has been awarded to a consortium led by SBM Offshore, in conjunction with JGC Corporation and Chinese partners, to develop the FLNG project...
