Uganda Government selects Consortium comprising YAATRA, BHGE, LionWorks, and Saipem to develop, finance, construct and operate a greenfield Oil Refinery in Hoima District, Uganda

Fluor Corp. announces three new contracts

 

Fluor Corp. recently announced its joint venture with JGC was selected as the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for LNG Canada’s proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada.

The company said the award is conditional on a positive final investment decision anticipated later this year at which point Fluor will book its share of the contract value.

The facility would liquefy surplus Canadian natural gas so that it can be safely exported to meet global energy demands, Fluor said.

It is expected to initially consist of two LNG processing units, referred to as trains. Each unit would have the capacity to produce at least 6.5 million tons per annum of LNG per train, according to the company.

The project includes an option to expand to four trains in the future...

McDermott International closing CB&I deal on Thursday, Saudi Arabia is key

 

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Offshore engineering firm McDermott International Inc (MDR.N) will close its acquisition of Chicago Bridge and Iron Co NV CBI.N on Thursday, creating an integrated onshore and offshore services group that will expand its presence in the Middle East.

McDermott’s offshore engineering and construction work will combine with CB&I’s onshore skills including liquefied natural gas (LNG) and power plants. McDermott will bolster its service offerings in Saudi Arabia, where it is already adding facilities and has contracts with national oil company Saudi Aramco IPO-ARMO.SE...

Gazprom escapes EU fine in antitrust probe over market position in CEE

 

Russian gas giant Gazprom will not be fined for abusing its market dominance in Central and Eastern Europe but will have to comply with EU rules ensuring a more competitive gas market in the region, the European Commission said on May 24 in a settlement decision ending a seven-year probe.  The decision will come as a disappointment in a number of CEE member states of the European Union, which had lobbied for the Commission to fine Gazprom for what they said – and the Commission agreed – were years of overcharging for gas and blocking its free flow between individual markets...

Shell makes large deepwater oil discovery in Gulf of Mexico

 

Shell Offshore, a unit of Royal Dutch Shell, has made a large deep-water oil discovery in the Norphlet geologic play in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The Dover discovery, which is said to be Shell’s sixth in the Norphlet, is located approximately 13 miles (nearly 30km) from the Appomattox oil field. It is considered an attractive potential tieback.

Drilled using the Deepwater Poseidon rig, the Dover well is located in Mississippi Canyon Block 612, located approximately 273km offshore southeast of New Orleans, and in water depth of 7,500 feet (2,280 meters)...
