Saipem-led consortium wins Zohr field maintenance contract

The Italian firm last year won a $900m engineering, procurement and construction contract to undertake development of the Eastern Mediterranean field.

A consortium led by Italian engineering firm Saipem has been awarded a contract to carry out maintenance services on infrastructure associated with Egypt's massive Zohr offshore gas field by local developer Petrobel.

The contract referred to as "life of field" will see Saipem and its partner Petroleum Marine Services carry out maintenance services for the entirety of the field's development.

Saipem's Sonsub business line, which specialises in the management and maintenance of subsea assets through the deployment of underwater technology and robotics will oversee execution of the contract.
